Start with zero tail swing. Add an advanced digital information panel, a load sensing hydraulic system, and an auto idling system. Now hook on an advanced angle blade with floating position, and you have the kind of operational performance that makes short work out of even the toughest digging and dozing jobs.

With zero tail swing, even the tightest spaces become efficient work places. Because the tail always stays within the width of the tracks, you cant run the house throughout its 360-degree turning radius without damage to the machine or surroundings. Zero-tail swing also ensures excellent balance and stability and faster operation, making the U45 ideal for work in congested urban areas.

Digital Panel. Informative, interactive, and functional, Kubota's Intelligent Control System provides timely diagnostic readings and routine maintenance alerts to help reduce downtime and repair fees. The large digital panel displays current working conditions, warning indicators, engine rpm and hour meter, fuel, temperature and oil levels. The panel not only lets you know when fuel is running low, but alerts you during refueling when the tank is nearly full.

Fuel Overflow Prevention. The U45's fuel system warns you when the tank is nearly full. To begin refueling, turn the ignition key to the OFF position and press any of the buttons on the digital panel. The system will begin beeping. When the tank is nearly full, the interval between the beeps will become shorter.

Angle Blade with Floating Position. The angle blade saves time and lets you work more efficiently alongside walls, near busy roads, and other space-restricted areas. With a simple movement of the dozer lever, the hydraulic angle blade can be set 25^o to the right or left to push soil as the machine moves forward, eliminating the need for repetitive repositioning at right angles when backfilling trenches. The blade has a convenient floating position that simplifies ground-finishing work, since you don't need to keep adjusting the dozer height.

Load Sensing Hydraulic System. With Kubota's advanced Load Sensing Hydraulic System, even the slightest lever movements produce smooth and simultaneous operation of the boom, arm, bucket, and house. Control valves automatically regulate and distribute the optimum amount of oil to each cylinder based on the weight of the load, resulting in perfectly matched speed, power, and cylinder timing.

Auto Idle System. Kubota's Auto Idle System improves safety, decreases noise, and reduces fuel consumption by approximately 10%. The engine automatically decelerates to idling speed four seconds after the control levers are returned to their neutral positions. When a control lever is subsequently moved, the engine speed automatically returns to its prior setting. A simple twist of the Dial Accelerator smoothly coordinates speed and tachometer settings.

Thumb Bracket. The factory-installed hydraulic thumb bracket and auxiliary hydraulics significantly reduce the time needed to mount accessories. The optional thumb allows you to handle a variety of loading and digging jobs without stopping to change implements.

Boom Cylinder Protection. The reinforced v-shape guard protects the boom cylinder rod from damage caused by accidental contact with attachments, rocks, or loads.

Excellent Lifting Capacity and Working Range. A powerful and responsive front working group provides excellent lifting capacity for all your digging, lifting, and loading jobs. Even when working to the side, using hydraulic attachments, or lifting heavy objects, the U45 remains excellently stable, thanks to its innovative counter balancing technology, long tumbler distance, low center of gravity and Double Outer Flanged Lower Track Rollers. The U45's large bucket capacity, excellent reach and digging depth, ensure that every digging job is done with maximum efficiency and speed.

Front Pin Bushings. Pin bushings are installed at all of the pivot points along the swing bracket, boom, arm, and bucket. Pin type bushings not only last longer, they are easier to replace when necessary.

Auxiliary Hydraulic System. The U45's auxiliary hydraulic system can accommodate a variety of attachments such as breakers and augers. Standard features include port pipes on the arm, bi-directional auxiliary hydraulic controls, and a control value. The auxiliary hydraulic connections are located within easy reach and incorporate short hoses that are less likely to become tangled or damaged.

Well Protected Front Attachment Hoses. To protect the front hoses from accidental damage, they are routed through the swing bracket.

User-Friendly Operation. New operating levers require less effort and shorter movements, ensuring improved control and operator comfort. Auxiliary hydraulics controls are mounted on the right operating lever for simple operation of attachments. A two-speed travel switch on the dozer lever permits quicker, more convenient travel speed changes. Adjustable wrist rests help reduce operator fatigue for increased job efficiency.

Controlled Climate Cab. No matter what the weather outside, the U45's climate-controlled cab will keep you feeling fresh and comfortable, letting you work faster, better, and longer. If desired, filtered outside air can be introduced via the external air vent. Noise level at the operator's ear is 79db.

Suspension Seat. The deluxe, high back seat is fully adjustable, ensuring optimum comfort for operators of all sizes. Even the custom wrist rests are adjustable to help reduce arm movement and increase operator comfort.

Two-Pattern Selection System (TPSS). No need for tools or to leave your seat -- a quick flick of the switch is all it takes to change between ISO and SAE operating patterns.

Wider Foot Area. More spacious than most excavators, the U45's comfortable operating area helps reduce operator fatigue.

Maintenance. A wide-opening rear engine cover provides fast and easy access to daily maintenance items. The side cover provides access to the battery, radiator and oil cooler, hydraulic oil tank and the control valve. Two-piece hose connections for the dozer and boom cylinders simplify hose replacement and reduce downtime.

Safe, Controlled Starts. When the safety control lever is moved upward, the console moves with it, providing more room for entry and exit. To prevent unexpected machine movement during entry or exit, the pilot and travel controls are then disabled. This is the only time that the engine will crank over.

Swivel Negative Brake. The swivel negative brake automatically locks the upper structure in its current position when the engine is stopped or the safety control lever is raised. Hence, the swivel transport lock pin is no longer required.

Straight Travel. For safer loading and off-loading, the U45 incorporates a Hydraulic Matching System that keeps the U45 traveling in a straight line while operating the boom and attachments.

Accumulator. Replacing attachments is now safer and more efficient, thanks to the U45's accumulator. Turning the key to the "on" position clears residual pressure in the auxiliary hydraulic port, preventing oil from spurting out when attachments are removed. Should the engine accidentally shut off while the front attachment is raised, simply turn the key to the "on" position. The attachment can now be safely lowered.
